One Barista. One Trailer. The Mobile Coffee Truck Wilmington NC Calls Its Own.

I'm Zack Bennett, founder and barista of Common Tides Coffee. I built the mobile coffee truck Wilmington NC lines up for at farmers markets, weddings, and corporate mornings, and I still pull every shot myself. This is the story of how it started, and where it's headed.

Hi, I'm Zack

I Chase One Thing: A Perfect Pour

Common Tides Coffee started with one stubborn goal: pull an amazing espresso every single time. Not sometimes. Not most of the time. Every time. That consistency is what drives everything I do behind the bar, from the first farmers market pour of the morning to the last latte at a wedding reception.

Before I owned a trailer, I was a regular. I spent years in coffee shops around Wilmington, and I learned exactly what it feels like to walk into a spot and instantly feel at home. That feeling planted the seed. I wanted to build something that gave people the same welcome, even if my shop happened to have wheels and a service window.

"I keep things simple. I don't try to stray away from what makes the coffee taste amazing. When the coffee is great, it speaks for itself."

Zack Bennett, Founder & Barista

I work closely with a North Carolina roaster whose beans I genuinely believe in. Knowing where my coffee comes from, and trusting the people behind it, is a big part of how I deliver a consistent, high quality cup at every stop. You can see everything I pour, from signature lattes to craft matcha, on the menu.

The best part of this job is the range of people I get to serve. Early morning market regulars. Office teams at corporate appreciation events. Couples toasting with lattes at coastal weddings. Every stop on the calendar is a chance to hand someone the best cup of their week, and I never take that for granted.

The trailer itself is a full craft espresso bar: the same equipment, the same process, and the same attention to detail you'd expect from a great brick and mortar shop. I didn't want to build a compromise on wheels. If my name is on it, it has to be right.

If you want the longer version, I share what's brewing, event recaps, and what I'm learning as a solo operator over on the Common Tides blog.

What I Stand For

The Values Behind Every Cup

Four commitments shape every decision I make, from the beans I buy to where the business goes next.

Consistency Is the Craft

One set of hands makes every drink, so the espresso you loved at the market tastes exactly the same at your wedding. Dialed in, every single pour.

Community Is Everything

Coffee is about people. I show up at markets, local events, and neighborhood spots because Wilmington has given me so much, and I want to give back to this town.

Powered Toward Solar

The trailer already runs on a battery system, and as Common Tides grows, my goal is to go fully solar. Proof a small business can do right by the planet.

A Shop on the Horizon

Someday, Common Tides becomes a brick and mortar: a real gathering place where you can read, work, or linger. Same quality, same values, four walls.

Coffee That Respects the Coast

Common Tides Coffee is a certified Ocean Friendly Establishment. For a business that lives on the Cape Fear Coast, that certification is personal: it means running the trailer in a way that cuts down on single use plastic and protects the beaches and waterways I park beside every week.

The battery powered setup is part of that same promise, and going fully solar is the next step. Great coffee shouldn't cost the coastline anything.

I'm excited to see where the tide takes Common Tides,
and I'm grateful you're a part of it.
